About Our College

Government College (Autonomous), Kalaburagi stands as one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher learning in the Kalyan Karnataka region, a hub of educational and economic aspirations. Established in 1932 as an Intermediate College under Osmania University, Hyderabad, during the Nizam era, the institution was upgraded to a Degree College in 1952 and affiliated with Karnataka University, Dharwad. Initially, it offered only a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree with various subject combinations.

In 1980, the college became affiliated with Gulbarga University, expanding its academic offerings to include undergraduate (UG) programs such as B.Com, B.Sc., and B.B.M. Over time, the institution introduced numerous postgraduate (PG) courses. Today, it offers 13 PG programs across Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, and Commerce, making it one of the few institutions in the Kalyan Karnataka region with a diverse range of UG and PG programs.

In 2012, the college was re-accredited with an ‘A’ grade by NAAC, paving the way for UGC to grant autonomy in 2016. Since then, the college has continually refined its curricula to meet regional needs and align with global perspectives, striving to become a leading center of education
